Insanely Fun Maths

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about graphs and data for maths. In Te Ngahere we have  recently been doing this maths for the last week. I learnt how to use graphs and collect data to add on to a table. I really enjoyed doing this because we were able to learn about graphs and how to use them which will be really helpful when we need them. I found it hard to create a graph because I kept on forgetting where to find the graph tab. I found it easy to collect the data because you just needed to push a control and the  data was added to your table. Have you worked around graphs and data before?

Fun Lesson's About T-ball

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about our interesting T-ball practice we did on Wednesday the 28th of October. I really enjoyed it because we learned new things about T-ball. I learned how to stand in the right position while we are hitting the ball. I found it confusing because I kept running to the wrong spot when I was meant to run the other way. I found it easy to get the ball back to where the batter stands to hit the ball and I also found it really fun.  Have you ever done T-ball practice before?

Amazing Art

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about our Mahi Toi we have recently been doing. We had to practice drawing curves, continuous lines and ruling straight lines on a template that the teacher had given us. Once we finished doing that we practiced our shading on the template that we had finished drawing on. After that the teacher gave us a template that was on an A4 piece of paper which was our good copy. After we finish our shading we need to go over all the lines with vivid to make that more bold and pop out of the paper more. Then we trimmed the border and glued it onto a piece of thick paper. I found it hard to shade
the colours because I was trying to blend it. Have you ever done Mahi Toi before?

Weather Report

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about our weather report’s Te Ngahere has recently been doing for the last three weeks. We have been making weather reports in Te Reo Maori and being able to screencastify ourselves speaking in te reo maori. I really enjoyed doing this because it is fun and I am learning how to speak in maori. I found it hard to pronounce the te reo maori correctly. Next time we make weather reports I will make sure to learn the words so I can pronounce them correctly.  Have you ever made your own weather report before?

Amazing Athletics Practise

Kia ora Bloggers, today I am blogging about the athletics practise Paihia School has recently been doing. I learned how to throw a shot put properly because Whaea Chrissy has been taking shot put practises for the past week. I really enjoyed doing athletics practise because it will be helpful for when we go to Bledisloe Domain to compete against other schools. Does your school do athletics practise before you compete against other schools?

Amazing Maths

Kia ora Bloggers, today I am blogging about the maths we have recently been doing this week. We have been doing Just Right Algorithms. Our W.A.L.T is to  use mental strategies to solve problems with fractions, decimals, and proportions. I learned how to work out Just Right Algorithms questions. I really enjoyed doing this maths because we get an opportunity to learn about algorithms before we go to college and I found it hard to explain how we worked out the questions like 2087-543=1544 and why it is that. Have you ever done Just Right Algorithms?

Insanely Fun Eeling

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about my 2 weeks off school. As we were having 2 weeks off school I went to Jade’s house in Haruru falls, we were going to go to the Opua camper van camp to go catch some eel’s and some little fish. When Jade’s aunty picked me up we waited for about 4 hrs to go catch some eels and fish. I found it really hard to catch some eels and fish because they were slippery and fast so I wasn’t able to catch one, Jade was able to catch some eel’s and some fish but they kept getting away and then Jade ended up catching them again and that time they didn’t get away.  Jades aunties friend caught the biggest one and they needed to use both of the spears to get it up onto the deck and to put it into the bucket then Jades aunty's had a turn then she caught some and then tried to catch the little one’s but it was too hard because they were to small and to fast. Next time we need to take some extra spears and a net so it makes it easier. Have you ever been eeling?

My Explanation

Kia ora blogger’s, today I am going to post about our amazing writing we have  been working on in Te Ngahere. I wrote an explanation on how Newton’s Three Laws of Motion apply to our bottle rockets, that we have been making for the Wonder Project. I learned all about Newton's Three Laws and that was hard to remember. Our W.A.L.T was to use structure and language features of an explanation. I really enjoyed writing this explanation because I knew what I wanted to write about and I also knew  what all of Newton’s Laws of Motion were. Have you done and explanation piece of writing before?

Mahi Toi

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about our art Te Ngahere has recently been doing for the past week. I learned how to draw continuous lines on a koru with design’s. Our teachers gave everyone a template with koru’s with koru designs for us to go over to practise. Our W.A.L.T  was to draw continuous lines draw curves, rule straight lines, select colours for effect and  blend Colours. I found it hard not to talk when others are talking around you and I found it hard to draw over the lines because the line’s were so light that I could barely see them. I enjoyed this subject because it was an amazing opportunity to learn how to draw continuous lines. Have you done this kind of art?

What I Learned From judgement calls

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about our maths. The maths we are doing is called (judgement calls). We needed: a classmate, a clock or watch that shows the seconds, string, a metre rule, cardboard, split pins, a set of kitchen scales and scissors. Judgement calls is a about measurement, we needed to measure things and also estimating how much some objects weigh on a kitchen scale. I learned how to use a kitchen scale and how to use a scale to weigh the objects. I found it hard to write the data down when the three of us were participating in the activities but we managed to write the data down, it was easy to work out the questions and it was also easy to make the trundle wheel which was for measuring things. Have you done this before?

Tok-Tiker's

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about movie making we have recently been doing in Te Ngahere. We learned how to use all sorts of different angle shots. My group and I found it hard to keep the camera still because we all took turns filming scenes. We had to make the films under 3 minutes long and we used Drama and music in our movie.  Whatever we chose it had to be appropriate for school. I feel really confident making these filmes because I enjoy taking the time to act the scenes and I get to hang out with my friends. I can’t say there is something I don’t enjoy about it. Have you ever made a film before and did you have fun making it? These were the types of shots we used.

Kawa Of Care

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about Kawa of care. Kawa of care is about caring for your Chromebook. I made a DLO for kawa of care. On the DLO is has rules for what to do and what not to do. I found it hard to do this because it was hard to find images that you are allowed to use off the internet. I really enjoyed doing this because I learned some things like always leave your Chromebook in the case so no liquids get into the Chromebook and so if you drop it in the case it won’t get damaged. Do you follow these rules around your chromebook?

Maths-Figure Me Out

Kia ora bloggers, today I’m blogging about maths. I learned how to find maths problems in a word problem and to turn them into a division and a multiplication question to solve them. We had to come up with strategies using the family of facts. I found it hard because we had to show how we figured it out. I enjoyed doing this because I got to learn new things. Have you done this before?

Mosaic Art

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about my art I have been doing in class, the art that we have been doing is called mosaic art but we made it on our chromebooks. I like doing this art because it is fun and also because it is enjoyable. The bit I found hard was making equal space in between each shapes. I had fun doing this I hope we do it again soon. Do you know what mosaic art is?

Cross Country Practice

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about our cross country practise. We have been doing cross country practise for the past 3 weeks. The year 7’s ran our school field 9 times in 15 minutes. Well we were running we were listening to music. One of the things I enjoyed was running with my teachers because they are fun to run with. Next time we do cross country practice I want to try run around the field 12 times because it will be a big achievement for me and to run 12 laps in 15 minutes.  Does your school do cross country?

Maths

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging my maths I have been doing throughout this week. I have been learning to use multiplying to solve division problems. The best thing about this kind of maths is learning how to turn a division into a multiplication (reversibility). I really like doing this because at the same time you can learn new things. Here is an example of what we are doing.

TIK-TOK

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about our assembly we did on last Friday. For our assembly we did two Tik-Tok’s. In our class there were 2 brave students that taught our whole class 2 Tik Tok dances for our assembly. The songs were called Lax and I don’t know what other one was called. It was really hard to keep in time with the others because we were starting at different times. I thought that was one of the coolest assembly we have had this year, because everyone had fun and the teachers were having fun too.

Homeschool

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about my learning I have been doing for the last few days during this lock down. I have been learning about the maths-maintence, Additon, spelling and also resoning. Maintence is maths to show if we know our take aways, divisions and additions. The addition maths shows if we know our pluses. The words I need to learn how to spell is achievement, baerable, tidying, ache and forty. I’ve been learning these because when I really learn them I will know these by the time in two weeks. These are photo’s of my learning. Here is photo of the cover of my learning book. Maths

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about my fun maths I learned about today. I am doing this to teach others because I want others to know what strategy I used. I learned how to add upto 100. The equation I want to show you today is( _64__ + 46=100). The way I solved this is a way my favourite teacher aid showed me. (Example: 100-40=60, 10-6=4 =64 so I did this 60+4=64). I was having fun learning this till It was time to pack up. Next time I won’t talk to anyone and focus on my maths. I hope you learned something from this blogpost if you did please comment.

Mind blowing facts about keyboard shortcuts.

Kia ora bloggers, today I am blogging about my Quality Blog Post. I am doing this to teach others how to use keyboard shortcuts. My slide is about keyboard shortcuts. I learned that you can open a new tab and you can also close the tab. example-(ctrl t-open new tab) and (ctrl w-close tab). Keyboard shortcuts are faster than moving your mouse around so much. I made a mistake in my google slide because my spelling and punctuation was in the wrong places so I fixed it all up then It was right. Next time I will make sure I ask for help, also make sure I am sitting in my writing groups and make sure my spelling is right and my punctuation is in the right places.

Basic facts

On Monday I was learning my basic facts while the other half of the class went swimming. I was learning my 5x tables. The only ones I need to learn is 5x6, 5x7, 5x8 and 5x9. When I learn my times tables I find a buddy to test me but this time I got my cousin to test me. When I went home I learned the rest of the 5x tables. Next time I am going to learn them all together and at the same time.

Turbo touch

On Tuesday we played turbo touch, turbo touch is a game when you basically play touch but you only need a little bit of space. The fun bit about it was when I fell over because it was really funny and it was really ticklish. I learned how to play turbo touch on the first day I came back to school. I would really like to thank Whaea Shanna and Whaea Chrissy for teaching me how to play turbo touch. If you want to learn how to play turbo touch click here to find the instructions. Click here

Technology

On Wednesday we went to Moerewa school to do technology. Our teacher was teaching us how to make a metal necklace. We had to rule a square that only had six cms. Then we had to draw a picture that could fit in the square and that picture had to be something that represents our whanau. Then after that we had to cut it out with a saw that is called the skill saw. We had to keep the cut out bit and put two pieces of six cm  ruled out square around the cut out bit. Then we melted a bar of metal to pour into the six cm ruled out wood. We let it sit for a few hours then drilled a hole on the top of the necklace to tie a rope through. The necklace was done. I had so much fun and I thought it was an amazing experience.
