Tessellation art.

Kia ora bloggers today I am blogging about my tessellation art. I liked how my teachers took their time to help us learn about tessellation. I learned how to create a piece of art called tessellation. Did I like it yes I did indeed so thank you teachers and another thank you for giving us this opportunity to have a go. Tessellation is a shape that repeats to make a pattern. You can’t overlap and leave any gaps because if you leave gaps it will look weird. This is my art!

STEAM Challenge

On Monday the 14th of October Te Ngahere was
doing a STEAM challenge. Our goal was to make
the tallest paper tower out of two pieces of
newspaper and 30 cm of tape. The tower had to
be able to stand and we had to try and make it the
tallest tower. I learnt how to make a tower made
out of two pieces out newspaper and only 30 cm
of tape. But I loved how I managed to work as a
team and not overtaking my group. Next time I
will think twice before I choose my group.

Neds mindset mission.

On Thursday there was a special woman named Nicole and she works for the NED company. I learnt that your brain needs fuel and that fuel is called knowledge. When NED tried to climb the mountain he said I can’t do this then the yeti said yet, then NED said what do you mean? The yeti said all you have to do is walk two steps forward one step back two steps forward one step back until you reach the top of Mount Everest.
 (NED Stands for)
 Never give up
Encourage others
 Do your best.

What is the best bait to attract the most rats.

On Wednesday we were learning about the scientific investigation. My investigation was what is the best bait to use to attract the most rats? I learned to put our traps out 4 weeks earlier. I found it challenging when we had to keep going back to fix our mistakes. We kept going backwards and forwards. I enjoyed using teamwork with my group and I also enjoyed finishing our presentation.

Mikaila's Cross Country practicing

On Tuesday we were practising for cross country and my time was 12 minutes and 30 seconds because we ran 3 laps. I enjoyed running because it helps me get fitter. When we practise I try to pace myself every time but I just get tired all the time. Maybe next time I could try to do some laps at home to get extra fit for cross country.

Project Island song trip

Last week some year 5’s and 6’s went to Project Island song. It was located in Urupukapuka Island. We learnt about birds and other native creatures we also learned about the pests that should not be on Urupukapuka Island. I really enjoyed making a weta home but I gave it a new name called the weta hotel because it had three rooms. I did not enjoy walking up hills. Maybe next time we should take proper walking shoes instead of netball shoes.

Doubling and Halving

In Te Ngahere I have been learning to double and halve the reasons why I learnt this strategy because when I use doubling and halving I multiplacate the big numbers to make it easier for us.I enjoyed working with my buddies to help me. I did not enjoy sitting next to my friends because they are the ones that distract me the most.
